Amaryllis - 2021

The name of the plant genus originates from the Greek verb "ἀμαρύσσω" (amarysso), which means to shine.
According to Greek mythology Amaryllis, a young woman, fell profoundly in love with the shepherd Alteo, who possessed a deep passion for flowers.
Seeking guidance on how to capture his heart, Amaryllis consulted the Oracle of Delphi.

Following the Oracle's instructions, she stood in front of Alteo's dwelling for thirty consecutive nights, piercing her own heart with a golden arrow.
When the thirtieth night arrived, a splendid flower sprouted from the blood she shed, ultimately helping her secure Alteo's affection.
